100 YEARS OF AVIATION
DOMINICAN
The 100 years of aviation in the Dominican Republic will be held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, with display Caribbean Air Show 2011, a great air show in which acrobats and aircraft pilots will participate in various countries, along the Havana waterfront, between Avenida Máximo Gómez and Abraham Lincoln, between the hours of 13:00 to 19:00.
The event is organized by a multidisciplinary Organizing Committee, chaired by Mr. Aristides Fernandez Zucco, Secretary of State and Executive Director of the Airport Department and composed of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), the Airport Department, the Airport Commission, the Civil Aviation Board, the Ministries of Tourism, Public Health, Public Works and the Armed Forces and the Headquarters of General Staff of the Army, Navy, Air Force and National Police Dominican . Also by National District Council, the Dominican Red Cross, Civil Defense, the Tourist Police (Politur) and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET), sponsored by Presidente Beer, the main sponsor.

The show, which will be offered completely free, pays tribute to engineer Zoilo Hermogenes Garcia (Mogito), born in the town of La Vega, who in 1911 made the first flight in a new poliplano designed by him, who beat created by the brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright, considered the fathers of aviation.

The Caribbean Air Show 2011 is endorsed by the International Council of Airshows (ICAS), international non-governmental organization present in 30 countries, to comply with the mission to advance knowledge and facilitate collaboration in the aviation sector. The direction of the air is charged with Extreme Productions and David Schultz Airshows (Air-Boss), both active members of the ICAS. The design of logistics and general assembly of the event is the responsibility of Leticia Logroño (logrose).
The Caribbean Air Show 2011 is sponsored by Presidente Beer as main sponsor and Airports Department, the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), Orange, Aerodom, Punta Cana International Airport, Ministry of Public Works Ministry of Tourism, Chevron Texaco, Kola Real, Refidomsa, Petrolium Group Martí, Plaza Lama, Hotel Meliá Santo Domingo, Central Romana Corporation, Casa de Campo, Cardnet, Serviport, Insurance Banreservas, OMSA, the Board of Civil Aviation, Airport Cibao Airport, La Romana and El Sendero del Cacao.
After the show, at 7:00 pm, will be presented for the first time in the country, the Twilight Show, which consists of an air show at sunset, carried out by several aerobatic teams, with lights and smoke. For the closing ceremony and start of the popular show will be a fireworks display. Likewise the area will host the performance of live bands and food and beverage outlet as close to the centenary celebrations of the Dominican aviation.
As part of this celebration, paying tribute to Mr. Horacio Alvarez and Poppy Bermudez, being the founders of the first flying clubs in Santo Domingo and Santiago
respectively. Also be honored posthumously to Frank Félix Miranda, the more pilot Dominican Military Aviation, for being the only surviving pilot Pan American Flight ended in 1937.
